In 2018, the Nigeria professional football league moves from 77th best league to the 57th in the world. and ranked 8th in Africa, on the continent behind Tunisia who’s ranked as the best league in Africa and 15th in the world. Morocco (17), Egypt (30), Congo DR (35), Angola (48), South Africa (50), Zambia (55). complete the top seven above Nigeria.

In 2018, the country sole representative Enugu rangers in the CAF confederations cup crashed out early in the competition, as they were unable to progress beyond the group stage.
