The 69-year-old, who has been out of managerial work since leaving the Gunners last year, has recently been tipped to take a director’s role with FIFA, despite insisting he wants to return to the dugout.
However, the Frenchman, who won 10 major honours during his 22-year stint in North London, has revealed he has been in contact with officials from the Gunners since he left the club.
Talking to the media, cited by AFTV Media, over a potential Arsenal return, Wenger said:
I have been in touch with people at the club but I felt when you go like that you cannot be half in, half out. You let people who come in work their way. I wanted to take a complete distance. It’s still a bit early, to go back.
These Arsenal fans were excited at the prospect of the former boss returning in the future.
