AnsuFati set to play for Spain

Spain Under-17 coach David Gordo is hoping that Ansu Fati will make La Rojita‘s squad for the U-17 World Cup in Brazil next month.
The 16-year-old has impressed since breaking into the Catalan side’s first team this season and he’s been targeted as a possible player that could feature for Spain at the tournament, which is set to run from October 26 until November 17.
“I haven’t spoken to him, but I know he wants to play for Spain,” Gordo told Cadena SER.
“We all agree and are looking forward to it. We’ll give our preliminary list for the World Cup on September 25 and the idea is that Ansu will play.
“Hopefully we can count on him. He lives for football and his teammates speak wonders about him.
“He has the possibility of playing for another country [Guinea-Bissau] but he wants to play for Spain and we’re doing everything possible so he can be with us as soon as possible.”
